In addition to our regular programme of activities, we run special weekend events such as day retreats, courses, and talks with guest speakers.
Retreats are focused periods of practice in a (usually rural) retreat centre, and often combine meditation, puja (ritual), talks, and periods of silence.
The retreats we organise are either day long retreats at the Centre or longer ones at retreat centres elsewhere in the UK, all of which are a great next step after you’ve done one of our courses or some meditation sessions. You can also see a list of all retreats organised by Triratna by heading to goingonretreat.com
Going on retreat is a chance to step back, to stop and to take stock, allowing a more creative response to life to unfold. So much of Buddhist practice is about putting effort into setting up positive conditions, and then learning how to stop and practise receptivity within those conditions. Being alongside others who are practising, removing many distractions and having inspiring input is a great way to see yourself change.
